The LaGrange College Athletic Department presented academic awards to student-athletes for the 2018-19 academic year in ceremonies Thursday in Callaway Auditorium.
Senior Robert Allen received the Dr. Malcolm Shackelford Award, given to the senior male student-athlete with the highest-grade point average. Allen has been a two-sport athlete in football and cross country. He has earned USA South Academic All-Conference honors and on the VPAA list each semester. Allen is a first-generation student and will graduate magna cum laude with a 3.83 GPA in political studies.
Allen was inducted into the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science and Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership honor societies. He has served as a Presidential Ambassador, been in the Student Government Association, and was the president of Black Male Initiative. He has volunteered for several organizations; including the Boys and Girls Club, Casa Alterna, Habitat for Humanity, and Relay for Life.
