CARROLLTON, Ga. - The LaGrange cross country teams opened the 2018 at the University of West Georgia meet Friday. The Panthers competed against NCAA Division II teams from West Georgia and Clayton State.
"We are very excited about the start of our season. Both our men's and women's teams have been working and training very hard to compete this season," said first-year coach Jasen Jonus. "Our performance at the West Georgia Invitational was definitely a great building block for the rest of the season. We are very proud of every runner for the way they represented Lagrange College in front of some very good competition."
Freshman Bryan Storie led the Panthers with an eighth place finish. Storie had a time of 26:33.60 over the 7K course. Robert Allen and Tyler Baars were 18th and 19th with times of 31:33.73 and 32:50.71 respectively. Jacob Shelton and Darius Wonnum set personal bests. Shelton had a time of 37:34.34, while Wonnum came in at 38:22.06.
Freshman Holly Moreland led the LC women with a time of 25:20.37 over the 5K course. Senior Davida White was 12th with a time of 25:46.77. Jaelynn James, Chandler Kasprowicz, and Natalie Glass all had personal bests. James finished at 29:56.89, Kasprowicz at 33:14.96, and Glass at 33:15.97.
The teams will compete in the Huntingdon Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8.
