Cross Country: Panther runners compete at Berry Invitational

The LaGrange cross country teams competed at the Berry Invitational on Saturday. The race featured 25 teams from NCAA Division I, II, and III. The Panthers lined up against the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida A&M among other strong teams.

The Panthers had six of 10 runners post personal bests for the season. Sophomore John Lynch led the men and finished the 8K course in 32:22, dropping 33 seconds off his previous best for the season and setting a personal career mark. Lauren Brandner paced the women and finished the 6K course in 27:02, dropping over a minute from her previous best for the season.

"This is the largest, toughest race we lined up in all season and for these runners to go out there and perform the way they did, it says a lot about their drive and determination," Coach Joe Strickland said. "We are peaking at just the right time heading into the conference race."
The Panthers will compete at the USA South Conference Championships on Nov.1 at Hagan State Park in Greensboro, N.C.
