Bijonae Jones joins the Panthers' volleyball program for 2019-20 as the graduate assistant coach. Jones played collegiately for NCAA Division I member Wofford, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. She will be obtaining a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree from LaGrange College with a certification in middle grades language arts and reading.
Jones was a 3-year captain and six rotations outside hitter for Wofford. She finished with a career total of 558 kills, 782 digs, 71 blocks, 71 service aces, and 58 assists. Jones has coached in numerous college volleyball camps in addition to serving as an official in the Palmetto Region. She will be the lead role for the Panthers' varsity reserve program and lead assistant for the beach volleyball program.
"We are very fortunate to have coach Jones join our program this year," Coach Madison Machurek said. "As a Division I, six-rotation outside hitter, she brings a vast amount of attacking and defensive IQ to the program. Her humble demeanor sets a positive example for our players.
"Coach Jones has a fierce athletic presence during practice. She is not only a vocal leader for us but can jump into drills and physically help our visual learners. This pre-season, we have established a strong chemistry as a coaching staff. I am thrilled to have Coach Jones by my side for the next few years."
