BEREA, Ky. - LaGrange closed out the regular season with wins over Berea and Agnes Scott in a USA South tri-match Saturday. The upped its record to 10-11 overall and 8-6 in conference play.
LC came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Berea 3-2 in the day's first match. The host Mountaineers took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-23. The Panthers rallied with with 25-22 and 29-27 wins in the next two sets to even the match. The Panthers built a 14-9 lead in the deciding fifth set. Berea closed within 14-13, but Leigha Reynolds put down a kill off an assist from Paeton Robinson for the match-winner. Robinson finished the match with a triple double of 12 kills, 16 assists, and 20 digs. Reynolds came within a kill of a double-double, finishing with nine kills and 19 digs. Lauren Sanders had a double-double of 34 assists and 14 digs. Jazzlyn Kenner tied for match honors with 17 kills, while Mimi Loftus added 14. Courtney Swafford had a match-high 27 digs.
Kenner led the Panthers in their 3-1 win over Agnes Scott. LC took the match by scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-28, and 25-10. Kenner recorded a career-high 21 kills without an error, finishing with an incredible .778 attack percentage (21-of-27). She also had five total blocks. Robinson had a double-double of 12 assists and 10 digs, as did Sanders, who had 29 assists and 10 digs. Reynolds had a team-high 17 digs.
The Panthers play in the USA South Tournament next week. The date, time, and opponent has not been determined.
