Volleyball: Huntingdon stops Panthers in non-conference match

Huntingdon stopped LaGrange 3-0 in a non-conference match Tuesday in Richter Gym. The loss left the Panthers 2-5 on the season, while the Hawks improved to 7-5. It was the first of three meetings this season between the two teams. The next two matches will count in the USA South West standings.

Huntingdon never trailed in the first set, winning 25-18. LC trailed 11-6 in the second set. The Panthers reeled off five straight points to tie the game at 11. The Hawks answered with six straight points and took the set going away, 23-13. The two teams battled on even terms in the third set. Leigha Reynolds' kill put LC up 20-17, but Huntingdon closed out the match with an 8-1 run to take the final set 25-21.

Jazzlyn Kenner had seven kills for LC. Paeton Robinson had a team-high 13 assists. Lauren Sanders added 12 assists and a team-best eight digs.

The Panthers open USA South play Saturday against Piedmont and Covenant as part of a tri-match in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
