Freshman Lexi Hall recorded a pair of double-doubles as LaGrange split USA South matches against Huntingdon and Piedmont on Saturday in Richter Gym.
The Panthers topped Huntingdon 3-2 in the first match, then fell by the same score to Piedmont in the final match of the day. The split left LC 8-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The Panthers' match with Huntingdon was close throughout. The first four sets were all decided by 25-23 scores. But the Panthers dominated the deciding fifth set 15-6 to take the match.
Emily Arnold had a team-high 12 kills followed by Hall with 11 and a team-best 15 digs. Nachelle Roberts finished with 10 kills and four total blocks. Maggie Ivester added eight kills and 13 digs. Lauren Sanders had 35 assists in the match.
The Panthers took the first two sets against Piedmont by 25-20 and 25-15. The Lady Lions came back to tie the match with 25-21 and 28-26 wins in the next two sets. In the final set, Piedmont held off the Panthers 15-10 to win the match.
Danyelle Carr tied for match honors with 14 kills for the Panthers. Hall and Ivester each had double-doubles. Hall had 13 kills and 14 digs, while Ivester had 10 kills and a team-high 16 digs.
The Panthers play a non-conference match at Birmingham-Southern on Tuesday.
