Volleyball: Panthers split matches at Stormy Petrel Challenge

ATLANTA, Ga. - LaGrange split two matches Friday at the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrel Challenge. The Panthers (2-1) swept NAIA Brewton-Parker 3-0 before falling by the same score to Benedictine (Ill.).

The Panthers downed Brewton-Parker in the first match of the day by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-19. The Barons (0-1) had a -0.18 attack percentage in the match. The Panthers enjoyed a 34-22 advantage in kills.

Sophomore Emily Arnold had a match-high 10 kills, while finishing a with a .391 attack percentage. Junior Aspen Coggins had 21 digs for the Panthers. Junior Nachelle Roberts had five block assists and was 4-of-7 in kill attempts.

In the Panthers' final match of the day, Benedictine (2-0) took the first set 25-10. The Panthers battled on near even terms with the Eagles in the second and third sets, before falling by identical 25-20 scores.

Arnold and freshman Lexi Hall each had seven kills for the Panthers. Hall finished with a .412 attack percentage and a team-best 11 digs.

The Panthers take on Wesleyan and host Oglethorpe on Saturday. The Panthers defeated Wesleyan 3-0 on Sept. 1 in the season opener.
