TALLADEGA, Ala. - Talladega College rallied to edge LaGrange in five sets Tuesday. The Tornadoes improved to 10-6 with their ninth straight win. The Panthers fell to 3-10 with the loss.
The Panthers took the first two sets of the match by scores of 25-23 and 25-19. Talladega came back to tie the match with 25-18 and 25-21 wins in the third and fourth sets. The Tornadoes won the deciding fifth set 15-11. The Panthers had won five straight five-set matches dating back to last season.
Senior Katie Covington recorded the team's first double-double of the season. She led the team with 18 kills and 16 digs. Covington finished the match with a .571 attack percentage.
Sophomore Nicole Wilson tied her career-high with 15 kills and Hayley LaFontaine added 10. Covington was one of four Panthers with double-figures in digs. Destinee Briskey had 13 digs, while Amanda Singletary and Ella Weymiller had 11 each. Erin McKinstry had a season-high 41 assists.
The Panthers open their USA South schedule Saturday against Ferrum and Averett. The matches will be played in Ferrum, Va.
