JACKSON, Miss. - LaGrange closed out it regular season schedule at the Millsaps Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers went 1-3 at the tournament and are 16-14 overall.
The Panthers lost by 3-0 scores to Mary Hardin Baylor, Loyola (La.) and Centenary (La.). They ended the tournament with a 3-1 win over LeTourneau.
The win over LeTourneau clinched the Panthers' first winning season since 2005. The 16 wins are also the most since the 2005 season.
Katie Covington had 37 kills in the tournament for the Panthers. She had a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs in the loss to Mary Hardin Baylor. It was Covington's team-leading 13th double-double of the season.
Ashley Corona had a team tournament-best of 14 kills against LeTourneau, finishing the tournament with 30. Erin McKinstry had 113 assists in the four matches, including 34 against LeTourneau. Crystal Colvin led the team with 60 digs.
The Panthers face sixth-seeded Spelman on Nov. 4 in the first round of the GSAC Championship Tournament at Piedmont. The Panthers are third-seeded in the tournament.
