Averett downed LaGrange 1-0 in overtime Saturday in a USA South game at Panther Field. The Cougars stayed perfect in conference play at 4-0 and improved to 6-3 overall.
The Panthers (7-4, 1-3 USA South) were held to only one shot in the game. Andrea Richardson had the Panthers' only shot.
The Cougars finished with a 14-1 shot advantage. Chelsea Totaro had seven save in goal for the Panthers. Sandra Johansson beat Totaro for the winning goal in the overtime period.
The Panthers host Greensboro on Sunday in a USA South game at 1 p.m.
