The LaGrange College women's soccer team will spend Spring Break travelling to Spain, departing March 31 and return April10. This is the first international trip in the history of women's soccer at LaGrange.
The team is staying in the Barcelona area and will play three matches against local clubs during the trip. The team will stay at seaside resorts such as Lloret de Mar, Blanes and Tossa de Mar. They will have sightseeing tours, including the Olympic Stadium.
As part of the trip, the team will visit the pro team FC Barcelona's training session. They will attend a FC Barcelona match against Athletico Bilbao at Camp Nou, which seats about 94,000 fans. In addition, a training session with a Spanish Federation licensed coach is part of the trip.
"Barcelona is considered by many to be the best club team in the world and they have the best player in the world, Leo Messi, starting up front for them," Head Coach Jim Robbins said. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our team to watch the reigning UEFA champions, LaLiga champions, Club World Cup champions and in Messi, the three-time world player of the year, play in their home stadium."
