Women's Soccer: Panthers down Wesleyan 6-0 in GSAC game

LaGrange closed out its regular season with a 6-0 win over Wesleyan in a GSAC game Saturday at Panther Field. The Panthers improved to 6-11-1 and 3-4-1 in the GSAC. Wesleyan closed out its season 3-11 overall and 0-8 in conference play.

The Panthers will host Agnes Scott on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the GSAC tournament. The two teams tied 1-1 in their regular season meeting.

Freshman Elise Hopson led the Panthers on Saturday with three goals and an assist. Sydney Dorsey, Angie Forero and Mary Robertson each scored goals. Robertson added two assists. Forero also had an assist, along with Brittany Gray and Shelby Stanfield.

The Panthers outshot the Pioneers 20-1 in the game. The Panthers had 14 shots on goal. Chelsea Totaro and Kristin Bird combined for the shutout. Totaro had the only the save for the Panthers.

Hopson opened the scoring in the second minute of the game. She took a through ball from Gray and beat goalkeeper Abby Stephens.

The Panthers scored two goals in four minutes to open up a 3-0 lead. Robertson took a ball from Forero and chipped the ball over Stephens. Shelfield fed Hopson for her second goal in the 15th minute.

The Panthers finished the half with two more goals to take a 5-0 lead into halftime. Forero scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Robertson. Hopson set up Dorsey's for her goal in the 30th minute.

The Panthers added a second half goal for the 6-0 final margin. Hopson completed her hat trick on Robertson's second assist in the 71st minute.
