Women's Lacrosse: Brevard hangs on for 10-8 win over Panthers

LaGrange's late rally came up short in a 10-8 USA South loss to visiting Brevard on Saturday. The Panthers are now 0-3 on the season and in conference play. Brevard improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Davida White led the Panthers with three goals and eight ground balls. Bethany Boyd, Haley Coleman, Megan French, Sarah Gilbrook, and Brie Shepler all scored for LC. Gilbrook had five draw controls and four ground balls. Goalkeeper Aly Lord had 14 saves.

In the first half, Boyd and Gilbrook gave LC a 4-2 lead with their goals. Brevard, led by Micaiah Vacchiano's game-high five goals, scored the final four goals of the half to lead 6-4. The Tornados held a 9-5 lead with 9:51 left in the game. The Panthers answered with goals by Shepler, Coleman, and White' final one of the game over the next six minutes to make it 9-8. Vacchiano had an insurance goal for Brevard with 1:40 left for the 10-8 final score.

The Panthers host Averett in a USA South game Sunday at 1 p.m.
