Women's Basketball: Berry overtakes Panthers to pull out 66-63 win

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry overtook LaGrange in the closing minutes for a 66-63 win over the Panthers on Friday night. The loss left the Panthers 5-5 on the season.

"This was a very disappointing loss tonight. I give Berry credit, I thought they played very hard and did a better job of executing down the stretch," said Coach Lee Buchanan. "We were just sloppy with the ball and then missed eight free throws on the night and lost by three.

"We are going to have to get some of our veteran players to play a little better. All year we have been inconsistent and it's hard to win games if players are inconsistent from day to day and game to game."

Jahpera McEachin led LC with 12 points. She added 4 assists and 3 steals. Marilauren Farr came within a rebound of a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Nadia Montour had 9 points off the bench.

Berry (3-6) led 23-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Panthers chipped away at the Vikings' lead, eventually taking a 55-53 lead heading to the final period. McEachin made 1-of-2 free throws to give LC a 63-59 lead with 3:26 remaining. The Vikings held the Panthers scoreless from there to take the victory.

The Panthers break for the holidays and play at Piedmont on Jan. 2.
