Marilauren Farr's career game carried LaGrange to a 68-55 win over Welch in the LaGrange College Classic on Saturday in Mariotti Gym. The Panthers improved to 3-1, while Welch slipped to 2-5.

"I was really pleased with our effort tonight. Even though we played three games in three days, we showed a lot of bounce in our step," Coach Lee Buchanan said. "I thought as the game progressed we played even better.

"I was happy all 16 players saw a little action tonight. Each player has been working hard so it's good to get them in the game."

Farr had a double-double game highs of 27 points and 11 rebounds. She eclipsed her previous career high of 22 points, set four times. Farr moved into 10th on the school's career points list with 864 points.

"Marilauren was really good tonight. She was confident and played really hard," said Buchanan. "She let the game come to her and she played relaxed. It was fun to watch her play so well."

LC dominated the rebounding, holding a 54-29 advantage. The Panthers had 38 of their points inside the lane, with 22 coming on second chance opportunities.

The Panthers held a slim 24-22 lead at halftime. Riley Chlupaceks' 3-pointer broke a 26-26 tie in the third quarter and the Panthers never trailed again. Farr's layup started an 8-0 run to push the lead to 11, 41-30. LC took a 49-41 lead to the final quarter. Sadie Desroches' jumper gave the Panthers their largest lead, 64-48, with 1:37 left.

"It was a good team win and we did a lot of good things tonight," Buchanan pointed out. "We keep learning and improving after each game and that is the most important thing right now."

The Panthers host the USA South/South Athletic Association Classic next weekend. They will face Berry and Oglethorpe.
