LaGrange women's basketball head coach Lee Buchanan and his staff welcome 11 newcomers for the 2018-19 season. The class is made up of six transfers and five freshmen. Buchanan gives a short capsule of each player:
#2, junior Sadie Desroches – Transfer point guard who played at Florida Southwestern in Fort Myers, Florida. Originally from Orlando, Florida. Very quick, ball-handler and passer. Sees the floor well and has a knack for finding the open player. Very competitive player who plays strong and smart while looking to play fast. She is a good scorer and distributer of the basketball and has the ability to attack the rim and shoot the 3-point shot.
#4, junior Malariah Ranson – Transfer combo guard who played at Southern Union State in Wadley, Alabama. Originally from Carrolton, Georgia. Smart player with a high basketball IQ. She is a combo guard that plays with good speed and always plays under control. Solid ball-handling skills and passer of the basketball with the ability to score and shoot the 3-point shot.
#5, sophomore Daijah Cousins – Transfer point guard who played at Newberry College in Newberry, S.C. Originally from Loganville, Georgia. Left-handed point guard with very good speed and basketball IQ. Has the ability to play fast while taking care of the ball. She is quick and plays hard on both ends of the court. She can attack the basket with speed and is a quality shooter and scorer.
#11, freshman Alexa Wilder – Freshman guard that played at Northgate High School in Newnan, Georgia. Can play the shooting guard or wing position on the court. She is a quality shooter with deep range. She is a very hard worker and student of the game that processes good speed and athleticism.
#13, junior Mykelli Taylor – Transfer wing player who played at Florida Southwestern in Fort Myers, Florida. Originally from Fort Myers, Florida. An athletic wing player with good size and speed on the perimeter. She has the ability to rebound on both ends of the court and processes a quality shot on the offensive end of the court. Has the ability to attack the rim, shoot the midrange shot and shoot the 3-point shot.
#15, sophomore Jahpera McEachin – Transfer combo guard who played at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash. Originally from Federal Way, Washington. Very competitive, quick and smart combo guard that plays super hard. Excellent leadership skills on the court who passes the basketball very well. Her ability to make pinpoint passes and score by attacking the rim and shooting the 3-point shot makes her a dangerous player with the ball.
#24, freshman Jalaya Lewis – Freshman combo guard that played at Frederica Academy in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Quick, athletic combo guard that can score and distribute the ball very well. Has a nice shot from mid-range as well as from the 3-point stripe. She has a scorer's mentality and is looking to score by attacking the rim or shooting the jump shot.
#25, sophomore Adreona Bowen – Sophomore forward player that played a season at Southern Union State in Wadley, Alabama. Originally from Woodland, Alabama. Has good size and strength to play inside and outside. Posts very well inside and has a nice touch around the basketball. She is a resilient rebounder on both ends of the court and she can shoot the 3-point shot.
#30, freshman Kayla Davis – Freshman wing player who played at Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. Good size and speed on the perimeter. She is a very athletic forward who can score inside and outside as well as rebound the basketball on both ends. Her ability to handle the ball and her explosiveness makes her a real scoring threat on the offensive end.
#31, freshman Cassidy Thomas – Freshman post player who played at Opelika High School in Opelika, Alabama. She is a hard worker on both ends of the court. Has good size and strength and plays physical inside.
#33, freshman Jada Brown – Freshman wing player who played at Rutland High School in Macon, Georgia. Super athletic wing player that works and plays very hard. She can handle the ball well and plays aggressive on both ends. Can score inside and shoot the 3-point shot. She is a good jumper and rebounder as well as a quality defender of the basketball.
