Lauren Johnson tied her career high to lead LaGrange to a 70-47 win over Agnes Scott in a USA South game Sunday in Mariotti Gym. The Panthers evened their season record at 6-6 and improved to 2-1 in conference play.

Johnson led all scorers with 21 points, tying her career mark set earlier in the season at Brenau. She dished out five assists and had two steals.

"I'm really pleased to get the win today. We had a solid effort from everyone and once again played team basketball," said Coach Lee Buchanan. "Lauren was good all weekend and really set the tone today on the offensive end.

"Defensively, we were sound and mixed in multiple looks. On the offensive end we shot the ball well again and that is a good sign for us."

LC never trailed in the game for the second straight day. The Panthers led 12-2 midway through the first quarter. Agnes Scott (1-7, 0-2 USA South) cut the lead to 16-12 by the end of the period.

Leading 20-16 in the second quarter, the Panthers took control of the game with an 11-0 run, with eight of the points coming off Scottie turnovers. LC led 36-25 at halftime.

The Panthers controlled the second half. They led by 20 at the end of the third period and the 70-47 final score was the the biggest lead of the game. LC had a 55-29 advantage rebounding, including 27-11 on the offensive glass.

The Panthers host Covenant and Maryville on Friday and Saturday in USA South conference games.
