Visiting Emory handed LaGrange its first loss of the season, beating the Panthers 83-51 on Tuesday in Mariotti Gym.
The Eagles (4-0) never trailed in the game. They led 20-5 by the end of the first period and 36-20 at halftime. The Eagles put the game away in the third quarter to lead by 35 heading to the final period. The 83 points was only the fourth time an opponent has gone over the mark since Lee Buchanan took over as head coach.
"We played a very tough Emory team tonight. I really thought they set the tone to the game early and we could never get going," said Buchanan. "I'm disappointed in the way we played but this type of game will make us better in the long run. We have a lot to work on and will get those things fixed very soon.
"There are no easy opponents on our schedule so we have to keep working on ourselves and improve each day on the practice court."
The Panthers play in the SAA/USA South Challenge at Piedmont College this weekend. The Panthers play Berry on Saturday and Oglethorpe on Sunday.
