Six LaGrange women's basketball seniors will be honored Saturday as the Panthers take on nationally-ranked Maryville in Mariotti Gym at 4 p.m.
Madison Barker, Bethany Howard, Hannah Landers, Morgan McDonald, Kelsey Mitchell, and Danielle Newton will be playing before the home crowd for the final time. Barker, McDonald, and Mitchell have been with the program four years, while Howard, Landers, and Newton transferred in last season.
This senior class has 62 career wins. It ranks fourth among LaGrange senior classes. The Panthers have advanced to the semifianls of the USA South Tournament the past two seasons.
Barker has played in 83 games for the Panthers, starting 70 of those. In her career, Barker has scored 620 points and had 442 rebounds. She ranks seventh on the school's career rebounds list. This season, she has started all 21 games, averaging 6.7 points and a team-best 6.5 rebounds. Madison had a season-high 14 points against Pensacola Christian and tied a career-high with 11 rebounds against Millsaps.
Howard transferred to LaGrange last season from Butler Community College. She has appeared in 49 games and made two starts for the Panthers. This season, Bethany has played in all 22 games. She had a season-high nine points against Ferrum and a season-high six assists against Mary Baldwin.
Landers transferred to LaGrange last season from Calhoun Community College. She has played in 49 games and made six starts for the Panthers. This season, Hannah has played in all 22 games and made two starts. She had a season-high 12 points against Oglethorpe. Hannah leads the team wit 65 3-point field goal attempts and is tied for second on the team with 17 3-point field goals.
McDonald has played in 93 games and made 25 starts in her four years with the Panthers. In her career, Morgan has 314 point and 116 assists. Last season, she earned USA South Academic All-Conference honors. This season, Morgan has played in 19 games and had a season-high six points against Agnes Scott and Mary Baldwin.
Mitchell has played in 101 games and made 76 starts for the Panthers. On the school's career lists, Mitchell is 11th with 721 points, second in assists with 316, fourth in steals with 152, and fifth in both free throws made with 243 and free throws attempted with 320. This season, she has started all 22 games and is averaging 7.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Mitchell leads the team and is second in the USA South with 84 assists.
Newton transferred to LaGrange last season from Maryville College. She has played in 48 games for the Panthers, with one start. This season, Danielle has appeared in 21 games and had a season-high eight points against Greensboro.
