Women's Basketball: Panthers fall in non-conference tilt at Emory

ATLANTA, Ga. - LaGrange took on the Eagles of Emory in a non-conference game Tuesday night. The Panthers are now 2-2 after the 64-47 loss to the Eagles (3-1).

Madison Barker led the Panthers with 10 points, while Kelsey Mitchell added seven. Kymberli Payno pulled down seven rebounds.

Emory had three players in double figures. Fran Sweeney led all scorers with 13 points.

"This was a really tough game tonight against a talented Emory team. Unfortunately, they took us out of what we wanted to do in the first half but I thought we played much better in the second half," said Coach Lee Buchanan. "We are still learning that we have to play harder and smarter if want to win games against really good teams."

The Panthers only lead came on the game's first basket by Payno. The Eagles led 30-16 at halftime. The Panthers fell behind by as many as 23 in the second half, but battled back to cut the deficit to the final 64-47 score.

The Panthers play in the USA South/SAA Challenge hosted by Oglethorpe this weekend. They play Berry on Saturday and the host Stormy Petrels on Sunday.
