The LaGrange swim teams finished their 2018-19 season Saturday at the three-day Suncoast Swimming Conference in Orlando, Florida. The Panther men came away with a fourth place finish.
"It was a great meet that really showed off how much the hard work the team put in this season paid off," said Coach Devin James. "Overall, we had three broken records, 10 Top 8 finishes, and an unbelievable amount of career best swims."
David Edmondson was the top points scorer for Panther teams. Edmondson placed sixth in the 200-yard individual medley on the first day of the meet, breaking the school record. On Friday, he placed sixth in the 100 backstroke with a season's best time and came within one second of the school record. Edmonson, Tim Garnett, Aatiq Bradley, and Craig Kennedy broke the school record in the 200 freestyle relay on Friday also. He ended the meet with a seventh place finish in the 200 backstroke.
Garnett had his best finish of the meet on Saturday, placing fifth in the 200 butterfly. He was sixth in the 400 individual medley with a season's best time that was less than one second away from the school record. Bradley finished eighth in the 100 butterfly with a season's best time. Kennedy had his season best time to finish eighth in the 100 breaststroke. Gabriel Griffith was fifth in the 500 freestyle on the first day of the meet.
For the women, Emily O'Neil was seventh in the 100 breaststroke with a season's best time. Lyllie Menjivar-Couch also had a seventh place finish in the 200 breaststroke. Alex Bromby, the women's captain, qualified for the finals in all of her events. Bromby set personal bests in every event she swam, both in the preliminaries and finals.
