NCAA Division II member Georgia Southwestern swept a doubleheader from LaGrange on Saturday at the LC Softball Complex. The Hurricanes took the first game 8-1, then completed the sweep with a 4-0 shutout in the second game.
Taylor Tallant was 3-for-6 in the two games. Sydney Hodorff and Brittany Todd each had a double included in their two hits. GSW's Elizabeth Wills hit her fifth home run of the season and had a double, while scoring three runs.
Game 1: The Panthers tied the game at 1-1 on Tallant's RBI single in the second inning. The Hurricanes took advantage of LC miscues to score six unearned runs in the fifth inning off Emily Cauldwell (1-3) and added a run in the sixth for the 8-1 final.
Game 2: Wills' home run in the second inning off Chelsea Twardoski opened the scoring. GSW added a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh. The Panthers left the bases loaded in the second, then left two runners on in each of the fourth and seventh innings.
The Panthers' scheduled doubleheader with Agnes Scott for Sunday has been postponed due to the forecast for inclement weather.
