Senior Emily Cauldwell threw a complete game four-hitter in Game 1 as LaGrange split two games with visiting Judson on Saturday at the LC Softball Complex. Cauldwell's pitching gem led the Panthers (2-2) to a 4-0 win before the Eagles (5-4) held on for a 4-3 victory in Game 2.
Cauldwell (1-1) walked two and struck out three in pitching her first complete game since her freshman year. The Panthers banged out eight hits in the game. Sydney Hodorff had two hits, including a double, scored a run and drove in another. Hodorff was 4-for-5 in the doubleheader. Michaela Keel's two-out two-run single in the first inning put the Panthers up 2-0. Hodorff's double drove in a run in the third and Kelsey Dietz's RBI single in the sixth closed out the scoring.
Judson took a 3-0 lead in the second game off Chelsea Twardoski (1-1). Maegan Harrison's base hit scored Taylor Tallant in the second to cut the Eagles' lead to 3-1. Jessica Perkins relieved Twardoski after the second and threw five strong innings. Judson got a run in the third to up its lead back to three, 4-1. The Panthers got within a run on RBI singles by Tallant and Hodorff in the third to make it 4-3. Tallant and Hodorff had four of LC's five hits in the game.
The Panthers host Huntingdon on Thursday, Feb. 22 in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 5:00.
