Men's Tennis: Panthers third in the USA South West Division preseason poll

The LaGrange men's tennis team was picked third in the USA South West Division preseason poll. Defending division champion Covenant and Piedmont tied for the top spot in the poll. 

The Panthers were 13-7 overall and 7-3 in the USA South, both marks a program best in the NCAA era. Senior John Mitchell Benton and junior Will Thompson return for LC. Benson was 12-6 last season, including 6-2 in conference play. Thompson was also 6-2 in conference matches and 10-8 overall. He was a first team USA South West Division All-Conference team selection. Sophomores Caleb Edde and Trevor McLemore also return. McLemore went 8-1 in singles play and was 12-4 in doubles matches with Benton. Edde was 10-8 in singles and teamed with Thompson to post a 7-3 doubles mark. In addition to Edde and McLemore, LC returns three other sophomores; Bryan Bush, Kyle Kelley, and Caleb Tyler. The Panthers bring in freshmen Daniel Assumpcao, Joshua Tullier, and Mathias Vera.

The Panthers host Birmingham-Southern on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the 2019 opening match.
