ROME, Ga. – After scoring all three goals during a 1-1 week for the LaGrange College men's soccer team, freshman midfielder Blake Webb was honored by the USA South for the first time in his career with Rookie of the Week laurels.

Webb registered his first career two-goal game for the Panthers (4-6-1, 3-3-1 USA South) during a 2-1 overtime win at Piedmont on Tuesday. LaGrange defeated the Lions on the road for the first time in program history.

Webb netted his first collegiate game-winner 7:08 into the first-overtime session, as he sent a rocket into the top-right corner from 25 yards out off a failed clear by Piedmont. Webb generated the equalizer with 54 seconds on the clock in the opening half, curving a free kick just over Piedmont's wall into the top-left corner.

The freshman standout brought LaGrange to within two in the 85th minute during a 3-1 setback at Maryville on Saturday. Webb's initial shot was denied by Maryville goalkeeper Mykal Manfred, and then he put the rebound into the top-left corner.

Webb leads the Panthers in goals (5), assists (4) and points (14), as he has tallied at least one point in six of 11 games. He ranks in the top-11 overall in all three categories in the USA South.

The Panthers, who are trying to qualify for the USA South Tournament for the third-consecutive year, will travel to Huntingdon for a 7 p.m. conference tilt on Wednesday in Montgomery, Alabama.
