Men's Soccer: Pensacola Christian holds off Panthers for 2-1 win

Pensacola Christian made its halftime lead hold up in downing LaGrange 2-1 at Panther Field on Saturday. The loss left LC 0-3 for the season, while the Eagles improved to 3-1. Enrique Hernandez gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead nine minutes into the game. The Eagles answered with a goal in less than two minutes to tie the game. Jake McClelland put Pensacola Christian up 2-1 six minutes later with a score off a rebound. With the final seconds ticking off the clock, the Panthers had the tying goal taken off the board on an offsides call.

Game Notes:

  • Lucas Wright had eight saves in the game, including one on a penalty kick and a point blank save following the penalty kick.
  • Pensacola Christian finished with a 16-13 shot advantage. 
  • The Panthers had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks
