Men's Soccer: Maryville ends Panthers' winning streak at four

Visiting Maryville ended LaGrange's win streak at four with a 4-1 USA South victory Sunday. The Panthers slipped to 9-5 on the season and 4-4 in conference play.

Maryville (8-3-1, 7-2 USA South) scored its four goals in two bursts covering six minutes. In the first half, Nate Long got the game's first goal in the 40th minute, then four minutes later Bret Thomas scored to put the Scots up 2-0 at halftime. The Panthers drew within a goal, when Justin Threatt blasted a shot past goalkeeper Ryan Jorgensen from 30 yards out 10 minutes into the second half. The Scots put the game out of reach with two goals in a span of 1:22 starting with Trevor McDonald's goal, then one from Randy Reichenberger in the 87th minute. Panther goalkeeper Cory Aycock had seven saves in the game.

The Panthers play at Covenant on Wednesday, Oct. 17 in a USA South game.
