Men's Soccer: Panthers turn back Huntingdon 3-1 in USA South game

LaGrange turned back Huntingdon 3-1 in a USA South game Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers upped their season record to 6-4 and 2-3 in conference play. Huntingdon fell to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

The visiting Hawks took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half on a goal from Connor Howard. Jude McEvoy answered for LC with two goals in a four-minute span for a 2-1 lead at the half. Daniel Meredith and Connor Liney assisted on the scores. McEvoy leads the team with eight goals and is tied for second in the conference in goals scored.

Nick Huberty headed in a pass from Liney to up the Panthers' lead to 3-1 in the 63rd minute. After Kain Baker was sent off with a red card, the Hawks went on the offensive against the short-handed Panthers. Goalkeeper Cory Aycock kept the Hawks from scoring with four saves in a three-minute span. Aycock had seven saves in the game, six in the second half. Huntingdon finished with a 22-8 advantage in shots.

The Panthers play at the Mississippi University for Women (Athletic Website) on Sunday in a non-conference game.
