Freshman Justin Threatt's goal in overtime lifted LaGrange to a 2-1 USA South victory over visiting Methodist on Saturday. The win was the first for the Panthers (5-3, 1-2 USA South) over the Monarchs (4-3, 1-1 USA South) since joining the USA South in 2012.
Threatt's game-winner came five minutes into the overtime period. Jonathan Mann headed Connor Liney's throw in in front of the goal and Threatt was there to beat goalkeeper Scott Brecke. The goal was Threatt's second of the season.
Methodist led 1-0 at halftime. Temple Siar scored in the 33rd minute off a corner kick from Yazeed Alshamekh. The Panthers got the equalizer seven minutes into the second half. Freshman Harris Peek got his first goal of the season with an assist from Jude McEvoy.
Cory Aycock had five saves in goal for LC. The Panthers had a 14-9 shot advantage in the game. Both teams had four corner kicks.
The Panthers host N.C. Wesleyan on Sunday at 1 p.m.
