Guilford edged LaGrange 2-1 in overtime Sunday. The Panthers are now 1-1 on the season, while the Quakers improved to 2-0.
The Panthers scored the game's first goal after a scoreless first half. Matthew Fritts blasted a free kick from 25 yards out into the back of the net five minutes into the second half. The Quakers evened the score on Giovanni Santibanez's goal in the 74th minute.
Guilford got the game-winner in the second overtime period. Rodrigo Gudino broke free and beat goalkeeper Cory Aycock for the goal and the 2-1 final score. Aycock finished the game with seven saves.
The Panthers play at Pensacola Christian on Thursday, Sept. 6.
