Men's Soccer: Diego Torres receives LaGrange College's Eagle Award

The LaGrange College Athletic Department presented academic awards to student-athletes for the 2017-18 academic year in ceremonies Tuesday in Callaway Auditorium.

Senior men's soccer player Diego Torres was presented the Eagle Award. The award is given to the year's outstanding male and female athletes.

The award reads:"For Outstanding Efforts—You have accepted the challenge to soar above the world and to succeed where others might falter. You have been decisive where others have hesitated.  You are recognized as a leader for your efforts.  Truly, you are an inspiration like the Majestic Eagle."

Torres is a english major with a focus in journalism and a minor in sociology. He was a four-year letterman for the Panthers, starting 54 of the 61 games he played in. Torres was the team's Impact Player of the Year as a freshman and the Panther Award as a senior. He served as a team captain and represented the team on the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. Torres is the son of Peruvian immigrants and will be the first in his family to graduate from college.
