LaGrange earned its first win of the season, blanking Toccoa Falls 1-0 at Panther Field on Tuesday. The Panthers got a first half goal and made it stand up.
The Panthers (1-10) controlled the game from the outset. They outshot the Eagles (3-10) 19-3 in the match, with 12 shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Cory Aycock needed only two saves to record his first collegiate win.
The Panthers made the most of an early scoring opportunity after the Eagles were called for a foul inside the box. Freshman Connor Liney took the penalty kick and shot it past Eagles' goalkeeper Tyler Standridge into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead six minutes into the match.
The Panthers kept up the pressure in the second half. They held an 8-1 shot advantage over the Eagles in the half.
The Panthers host Greensboro on Saturday at noon and Averett on Sunday at 3 p.m. in USA South matches.
