MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Maryville did all of its scoring in the second half in a 2-0 GSAC win over LaGrange on Saturday. The match was the first conference one for the Scots, now 8-2-2 overall. The Panthers fell to 0-2 in the conference and 2-9 overall.
Maryville had a 37-6 shot advantage in the match, including 15-4 on goal. Panther goalkeeper Donnie Palmer had 13 saves in the match, eight coming in the first half.
The Scots scored two minutes into the second half on a goal by Jake Holt. They added an insurance goal four minutes later as Sean Yoder scored on a header off a corner kick.
The Panthers had two shots on goal in each half. In the first half, Lewis McDaniel's shot was stopped less than two minutes into the match. Brock Morris and Harry Hinson had shots turned away in the second half.
The Panthers host Covenant in a GSAC match on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m.
