The LaGrange men's basketball team plays at Maryville tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the first round of the USA South Tournament tonight.
The Panthers (17-8) and Maryville (18-7) split the regular season meetings. The Panthers won 86-75 in Mariotti, while Maryville won 97-69 on its home court. The winner advances to the semifinals to face either Averett or N.C. Wesleyan at a location to be determined.
LC enters the tournament as the third seed from the West Division. The Panthers' 13 conference wins were the most for the program since entering the USA South conference for the 2012-13 season.
The Panthers have five players averaging in double figures, led by senior Jamison McCray's 15.5 points per game. McCray is followed by Travis Thompson (13.6), Julian Cameron (12.5), Jalen McCallum (11.0), and Gary Bishop. McCallum leads the conference with 95 blocked shots. He leads all NCAA divisions with 3.8 blocks per game.
LC is third in the USA South in scoring, averaging 84.4 points per game. The Panthers are second in rebounding, averaging 40.7 rebounds per game.
