MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Maryville clipped LaGrange 97-69 in a USA South game Sunday. With the loss, the Panthers (15-8, 11-5 USA South) fell one game behind the Scots (16-7, 12-4 USA South) for second place in the West Division.

"There's not much to say about this one. We didn't follow the game plan and didn't come out with energy," said Coach Kendal Wallace. "Those two things beat us today. Add-in we didn't defend well, got out rebounded, and they shot 70 percent from the 3 point range usually equals a loss. I didn't think we played tough and allowed their runs to assist us in hanging our heads and not playing hard. They wanted it more."

Jamison McCray led LC with 14 points. Julian Cameron and Lincoln Anderson had 12 points each. Travis Thompson had a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Panthers stayed close with the Scots for the first five minutes of the game. Gary Bishop's 3-pointer put LC up 10-7. Maryville ran off nine straight points and never trailed again. The Scots led 45-33 at halftime and pulled away in the second half.

The Panthers close out the regular season next week with home USA South games Wednesday against Huntingdon and Saturday against Piedmont.
