ROME, Ga. - LaGrange leads the Chick-fil-A Invitational after Monday's first round at the Stonebridge Golf Club. The Panthers had a 3-under par team score of 285; three strokes ahead of Huntingdon B. Walters State, Texas Lutheran, and Maryville round out the top five.
Ben Womack, Cameron Starr, and Sam Rogers all had rounds of 1-under par 71 to tie for third in the individual standings. Womack closed out his round with birdies on two of his last four holes. All three golfers each had four birdies. Nathan Garner also had four birdies in shooting an even par 72. Thomas Bird finished with a 74. Bird's round was highlighted by an eagle 3 on the par 5 14th hole. As a team, the Panthers were 6-under par on the two back nine par 5s.
The tournament concludes Tuesday.
