TUNICA, Miss. - Junior Sam Rogers earned All-Tournament honors with a sixth place finish as the LaGrange golf team tied for the seventh at the Rhodes Fall Classic. It was the opening tournament on the fall schedule for the Panthers.
The Panthers had a team score of 897 for the two-day, three round tournament over the Tunica National Course. LC had team rounds of 311, 286, and 297. The round of 286 was the team's lowest round since a 283 in the same tournament last year.
Rogers finished the tournament with a three-under par 213 total. The junior opened the tournament with a first round 75, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 third hole. He bounced back in the second round with a 4-under par 68, that included six birdies against only two bogeys. Rogers closed out his tournament with a final round 2-under par 70, making only one bogey.
Fellow junior Cameron Starr joined Rogers in the top-10, tying for seventh, one shot back of his teammate at 214. Starr had a team-low round 73 in the first round. He also had an eagle on the second hole. Starr used eagles on both of the back nine par 5s to shoot a 2-under par 70 in the second round. He had an up and down final round 1-under par 71, making four birdies against three bogeys.
Junior Ben Womack was 16th in the standings, shooting 218 for the tournament. Womack opened with a first round 77. He tied Rogers for the team's low round with a 4-under par 68 in the second roun. He had only one bogey and making five birdies. Womack had a 73 for the final round.
The Panthers play in the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Classic on Oct. 7-8 at the Royal Lakes Country Club in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
