TUNICA, Miss. - The LaGrange set a team record Monday in finishing third at the Rhodes College Fall Collegiate Golf Classic played at the Tunica National golf course. Sophomore Ben Womack tied for sixth in the individual standings with a 5-under par 211 total.
As a team, the Panthers shot a final round score of 5-under par 283, bettering their previous round for the second straight day. LC finished 8-under par for the tournament, the best ever in the program's history since joining the NCAA. The 856 total bested the 859 shot at the Jekyll Island Invitational in 2016.
Womack fired a final round 4-under par 68. He had five birdies on the front nine to jumpstart his round. Fellow sophomore Cameron Starr was a shot back of Womack with a 69 and had a 221 total. Freshman Mathias Andersen had an even par 72 and had a 1-under par 215 total. Sophomore Sam Rogers was three shots back of Andersen after a 74. Senior Rob Simpson had a 76 and 224 total.
LC will play in the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational at the Royal Lakes Country Club in Flowery Branch, Georgia on Oct. 1-2.
