TUNICA, Miss. - The 25th-ranked LaGrange golf team is tied for third after two rounds at the Rhodes College Fall Collegiate Golf Classic at the Tunica National golf course. The tournament started Sunday with two rounds and finishes Monday with a single round.
The Panthers had team scores of 288 and 285 for a 3-under par total of 573. Huntingdon and Texas-Tyler are tied for first, eight shots ahead of LC. Tournament host Rhodes and Southwestern round out the top five in the 20-team field.
Sophomore Ben Womack and freshman Mathias Andersen are tied for 17th in the individual standings with two round totals of 1-under par 143. Womack had rounds of 71 and 72, while Andersen posted scores of 72 and 71. Andersen had an eagle 3 on the par-5 14th hole. Sophomore Sam Rogers had back-to-back rounds of even par 72. Rogers had six birdies in the first round. Senior Rob Simpson had rounds of 73 and 75 for a 148 total. Sophomore Cameron Starr bounced back from a first round 82 with a team-best round of 70 in the second round. Starr played the back nine at 5-under par without a bogey.
