The 2015 USA South golf awards were announced by the conference office. The LaGrange golf team captured the Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards, while placing three golfers on the all-conference team.
Senior Cory Howard was selected as the Player of the Year and was on the All-Conference first team for the third straight year. He is the first LaGrange athlete to earn a USA South player of the year award. He is currently tied for first in the USA South, averaging 72.6 strokes per round in 22 rounds of play. Howard has recorded six top-10 finishes, five top-five finishes and placed first in two events. He has shot par or better in 12 rounds with a shared conference-best low round score of 66 which occurred at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate. Howard was named USA South Golfer of the Week three times this season.
Head coach Lee Richter, in his 22nd season, was named the Coach of the Year. He is the first LaGrange coach to be selected as a conference coach of the year. Richter has guided the Panthers to a No. 2 national ranking and three tournament wins this spring. The Panthers have eight top-five finishes this season and enter the USA South Tournament as the top seed and defending champions.
Joining Howard on the first team is sophomore Osborn Theam. Theam is fourth in the USA South in scoring average per round at 73.8. He has had three top five finishes this season. Fellow sophomore Logan Lanier was a second team selection and the team's representative on the All-Sportsmanship team. Lanier is fifth in the conference behind Theam with a 74.1 average. He has had four top 10 finishes this season.
