DANVILLE, Va. - Averett overpowered LaGrange 55-7 in a USA South game Saturday. The loss left the Panthers 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Averett improved to 4-1 and 2-0.
How it Happened
- Averett scored twice in the first quarter to grab a 13-0 lead. The Cougars scored on a quick 2-play 50-yard drive for their first score, then converted a Panther turnover into another score.
- LC cut the deficit to six, 13-7, in the second quarter. The Panthers drove 80 yards in eight plays. Cam Perkins threw to Jeremiah Engram from 18 yards out to cap the drive with 7:32 left in the half.
- Averett scored on a 75-yard pass play to go up 20-7 at the half. The Cougars put the game out of reach with 28 third quarter points.

- Cam Perkins had 144 yards passing and a touchdown.
- Jeremiah Engram caught five passes for 37 yards, including the 18-yard touchdown.
- Klynell Johnson had eight total tackles.
