Football: Panthers end season with 42-14 loss at Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – LaGrange's season ended with a 42-14 loss at Huntingdon on Saturday. The Panthers finished the season 3-7 overall and 2-5 in USA South play.

Caleb Speir had 124 yards passing and a touchdown. Senior Marcus Campbell had four catches for 61 yards in his final game. Campbell is third on the school's career receiving yards list with 1,946 and tied for third in receptions with 147. Brendon Scott rushed for 53 yards to become the second Panther to go over 1,000 yards rushing in his career.

Huntingdon (4-5) raced out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. The Hawks had 291 yards of total offense in the first half and 571 for the game. Eric Thomas rushed for 209 yards and Kobe Smith another 127 as the Hawks had 393 yards rushing.

The Panthers put together an 11-play 83-yard scoring drive in the second quarter. Speir finished the drive with a 12-yard toss to David Apiag to make it 21-7.

After stopping the Hawks to open the second half, the Panthers marched 76 yards in just nine plays to cut Huntingdon's lead to 21-14. Brendon Scott went in from the 2-yard line for the touchdown.

Huntingdon answered LC's score with touchdown runs of 59 yards by Smith and 42 yards by Thomas to build a 35-14 lead after three quarters. The Hawks added one more score in the fourth quarter for the 42-14 final.
