The LaGrange football team split into two squads for a pair of Sunday scrimmages. The varsity downed Rhodes 54-17 while the JV hosted Georgia Sports Prep Academy at Callaway Stadium.
"I was very encouraged by our performance against Rhodes," Head Coach Todd Mooney said. "Our offense was able to get into the end zone seven times and our defense played fast and physical."
The second scrimmage gave the younger players valuable game experience and repetitions.
"Our younger players played hard and showed very positive signs," Mooney pointed out. "It was very good to get them in a game situation for evaluation."
The Panthers will have their final week of preseason camp before beginning preparations for their Sept. 7 opener at Callaway Stadium against Birmingham-Southern.
