LaGrange took two weekly USA South honors for the week ending March 10 as announced by the conference office. Junior first baseman Trey Pearce is the Player of the Week and freshman outfielder Joe Ruth is the Rookie of the Week. Ruth is the second Panther this season to be named Rookie of the Week. Liam Carbone earned the honor for the week ending Feb. 17. The pair helped LC go 3-1 last week, including taking two of three from No. 10 Huntingdon in a USA South series.
Pearce went a combined 7-for-12 (.583) with a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.250 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, eight RBI, two doubles, two home runs and four walks in the four games. In a 7-4 win over Roanoke, Pearce was 1-for-3 with one run batted in and one walk. In the Huntingdon series, Pearce was 6-for-9 with three runs scored, seven RBI, two doubles, two home runs and three walks. For the season, he is batting .362 with two home runs and 13 RBIs.
Ruth was 8-for-16 (.500) with a .571 on-base percentage and a .625 slugging percentage to go along with eight runs scored, seven RBI, two doubles and three walks last week. In the win over Roanoke, Ruth was 1-for-3 with one run scored two RBI and one walk. Ruth was a combined 7-for-13 with seven runs scored, five RBI, two doubles and two walks against Huntingdon. He leads the team with a .382 batting average and is the conference leader with 23 RBIs.
