Berry rallied for a 9-7 win over LaGrange on Monday at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. The Panthers are now 5-3, while the Vikings improved to 7-2 with their sixth straight win.
LC led 5-0 after two innings. Ryan Ross walked with the bases loaded and Judd Moore followed with a two-run double in a three-run first inning. In the second, Liam Carbone scored on Joe Ruth's ground out and Cael Chatham came home on a wild pitch.
Berry came back with four runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth to go up 8-5. Trailing 9-5, the Panthers got two runs in the seventh on an RBI single from Jack Layrisson and Moore's infield hit. William Gibbons pitched the final two innings for the Vikings to get his third save of the season. Luke Crawford (2-0) got the win, pitching 4-2/3 scorless innings of relief.
Gibson Bittner (0-2) started and took the loss for LC. Bittner allowed seven runs in three innings. Spencer Douches relieved Bittner and gave up a run in 1-1/3 innings. Anthony Elias allowed a run in 2-2/3 innings. Austin Brown and Tanner Chafin each pitched a scoreless inning.
The Panthers play a three-game series at N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday and Sunday to open their USA South conference schedule.
