Baseball: Panthers headed to Holly Springs Regional for NCAA tournament

The NCAA announced the 58 teams for the 2018 Division III Baseball Championship. The LaGrange baseball team will be one of six teams in the Holly Springs, North Carolina Region.

Randolph-Macon (Va.), The College of New Jersey, Denison (Ohio), Christopher Newport (Va.), and Alvernia (Pa.) join the Panthers. LC is making its second straight NCAA appearance after winning the USA South Tournament Championship for the second straight year. It will be the Panthers' third overall appearance in the national tournament. LC is the only team in the region that won its conference tournament championship with the other five teams receiving at-large bids.

The region tournament begins Thursday. The Panthers will play Randolph-Macon at 11 a.m. The tournament continues through Sunday, May 20 or Monday, May 21. The regional winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin, Friday-Tuesday/Wednesday, May 25-29/30, 2018.
