MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Nick Fink and Jack Layrisson hit home runs to help power LaGrange to a 9-3 win over Huntingdon at Posey Field on Sunday. The Panthers (8-10, 2-4 USA South) stopped a four-game losing skid with the victory.
Huntingdon (10-5, 2-1 USA South) led 3-1 entering the fifth inning. Fink jump started a three-run rally with a one-out solo home run, his first of the season. Rhett Mixon's two-out single drove in Jacob Gassert with the tying run. Jackson Patrick scored the go-ahead run on an error on the play. The Panthers added a run in the seventh, then two more in the eighth on Layrisson's team-leading third home run of the season, before closing out the scoring with two runs in the ninth for the 9-3 final score. Patrick and Rhett Hollon had two hits each as LC finished with eight hits.
The Panthers host Birmingham-Southern on Tuesday in a non-conference game.
