2018-19 in Review: Men's basketball edges Pfeiffer to run winning streak to eight games

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - LaGrange clipped Pfeifer 99-97 in a USA South game Jan. 26. The eighth straight win upped the Panthers' record to 14-4 overall and 10-1 in USA South play. 

Jamison McCray led five Panthers in double figures with 22 points off the bench. McCray has averaged 18.6 points per game in his last seven games as a sixth man. Travis Thompson had 17 points, Gary Bishop and Julian Cameron 16, and Jalen McCallum 14.

LC overcame making just 10-of-25 from the free throw line in the game. The Panthers shot 58.7 perecent from the floor, incluing hitting 15-of-28 from 3-point range. McCray and Thompson each made 4-of-6 treys.

The Panthers scored the first eight points of the game. Julian Cameron's 3-pointer gave LC its biggest lead of the first half, 54-41, with two minutes left. Pfeiffer (9-9, 4-7 USA South) cut the deficit to six, 54-48, by halftime.

The Falcons briefly led three times in the second half. McCray's jumper in the lane put the Panthers ahead to stay, 72-71, with 12 minutes left. LC led by as many as nine points the rest of the way.
