LaGrange coach David Kelton got his 100th career win as the 10th-ranked Panthers clipped Emory 8-0 on March 6 at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium.
Kelton is in his fifth year coaching the Panthers. The last two years under Kelton, LC has gone 70-19, including the record setting 40-6 mark in 2017. Kelton is 100-67 as head coach.
"It feels good to get to 100 wins. The last two years have been a lot of fun," said Kelton. "Being able to rebound from Game 1 this past weekend, then get it rolling and come into a midweek game. The midweek games a lot of times are sometimes your toughest ones. So to be able to beat a quality team like Emory to get a win, especially number 100 is huge."
Five pitchers combined on a three-hitter for the Panthers' second straight shutout. Austin Fain (1-0) started and threw the first three innings. Zach English, Gibson Bittner, Grayson Bagwell, and Coston Anderson followed Fain.
The Panthers finished the game with 12 hits. Jacob Gassert, Ryan Ross, and Dawson Weaver each had two hits.
